What a moment for young Michael Scott (11), getting the opportunity to play along side James Watson himself. Michael received several minutes of friendly individual tuition from the master himself, and although he admitted to terrible nerves at the time, this will be an occasion Michael will be able to look back upon with pride.
The Band spent most of the day like this, every face locked onto James and every ear hanging on his every word. James was able to pass on his wealth of musical experience in such a friendly and humorous way, that he maintained everyone's fullest attention the whole day long.
The afternoon session concentrated more on conducting. Five brave band members got up in turn to conduct a piece with James watching closely. He than joined the conductor to pass on some some of his conducting experience in the form of hints and tips, whilst keeping the whole band amused with various stories of conductors he has come across.
Above left we see Jennifer about to receive some comments from James, with Chris looking on (he had performed a solo for the piece), and above right, Ian takes in some words of wisdom from James.
